Product Details

This framed mezzotint by the famous Irish engraver Mr. James McArdell was made in 1758 and was sold from the Golden Head in Covent Garden, London, where Mr. McArdell had set up his shop in 1750. The Rijksmuseum also has a copy of this mezzotint in its archive: (www.rijksmuseum.nl/nl/collectie/RP-P-OB-32.573)

The original of this jolly musical girl was painted by the Dutch painter Mr. Jan Miense Molenaer (or Molenaar) (1609-1668) in 1661. The painting is in a private collection according to our research.
The mezzotint is newly framed with museum quality mount board. The frame itself is old and has some blemishes. The mezzotint and frame look well together in our opinion.

Size: framed 46.5 x 57.5cm, the picture is 23 x 33 cm
